Only place I pay retail is Dooney.So you know on the 'EJ' site, as of Oct'23, it's a $300 bag on clearance for 195.It really has some great investment details worthy of the tag.* Handles & Trim ~In my opinion handles will make or break you.They are the most heavily used, and abused, part of any bag.These are tough enough to swing a mugger to the ground (bad mugger~ not today)They are textured-woven with a type of polyurethane like a weatherproof straw hat.The shoulder strap is sewn over in double & padded. It's tough & comfy.All the woven trim is the same fabric, easily cleanable & stitched very well.~ The handles are short and will sit under arm like a satchel ~** Bottom Exterior & Interior ~It's stitched together in 2 pieces down the center.This gives support without sag & will keep shape.There's no "firm" insert but the whole bag is double fabric so it's hefty.*** It. Has. A. Zipper (sings)When was the last time a tote had a zipper?What I'm about to tell you is a craftsperson detail.The zipper is recessed so it meets, not seals in, the in-fold seam of the sides.This gives you security & polish while allowing you to drop something in without unzip.**** Security ~The inside and outside pockets are designed to keep your stuff safe.Let's take a beat, On an occasion you'd be using this, you may not be security conscious.The side pockets are too small for phone but can slip in replaceable shades & sunscreen.As well very deep front, and inside, pocket for phone.Another larger inside pocket with a small, easy to one hand open, velcro tab.Then the matching large cosmetics bag with removable keychain strap & Metal loop.Nothing has been skimped on here.The cosmetics bag is the same fabric with the salmon exterior and dark sand interior.Last fave detail is the small EJ tag. Let's you know its luxury without being ad space.* Worth Noting~ If you're going to get a tote inset to solid out the bottom or for storage,the one I got is too wide so carefully measure before you order.Not a whiff of chemical. Smelled like organic cotton when I opened the bag. So soft.Have to share I have used this way more than I thought.Wanted a carry all bag for work on the go as I'm more a crossbody person.This feels functional not burdensome and it's so pretty. Love it.
